Launched MedLeb Application that Enables the Patient to Check the Drug’s Price

On the 13th of January 2022, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al-Abyad, launched the MedLeb patient guide application developed by Oummal Org. It is a program that aims to automate procedures related to the drug file in Lebanon and manage them in a way that guarantees the patient’s rights.
MedLeb is divided into two parts:
– Pharmacy Service
– Patient Guide or Patient Guide

Section One: Pharmacy Service
The section dedicated to the Pharmacy Authority is used by the Import and Export Department and the Pharmaceutical Inspection Department of the Pharmacy Authority, as well as by drug importers and local drug manufacturers.
This section aims to automate the following procedures: registration and pricing of medicines, importing them, bringing them into the country after the discovery of the pharmaceutical inspection on them, and then distributing them within the Lebanese territories to specialized selling points such as pharmacies, hospitals and clinics.
As for the second section: Patient Guide, which was launched on Friday, it is a mobile application that includes the following features:

1- Search for a drug by writing the name of the drug or the main ingredient, or by scanning the two-dimensional code on the package.

2- View information related to the drug: such as (ingredients, presentation, form, route, and therapeutic category), and some information related to pricing (drug price, segment, and support percentage) and some registration information (registration number, importer, manufacturer, country of manufacture) This is done by clicking on the name of the drug or the combination symbol.
For some medicines, the user can also see the price of a single pill (for example, a cheaper medicine pack may contain fewer pills, so it will be more cost-effective to buy a more expensive pack.)

3- Finding an Alternative Medicine: By clicking on “Alternative Medicine”, the user can see a list of medicines that can replace the searched medicine, so that the list of medicines displayed is from the lowest price to the most expensive.

The next version of the cellular patient guide application will include:

1- Reminding the times of taking the medicine by scheduling it, as the application will inform the user of the dates and times of taking the medicine, and it will also alert the user when the drug stock is about to run out before a number of days determined according to the user’s desire.

2- Determining the hospitals and/or pharmacies closest to his/her geographical location by using the Google Maps feature, which will enable the user to find the pharmacy or hospital closest to him/her and go to it, and other features that will be announced in a timely manner.

Today, a week after the launch of the Medleb – Patient Guide application, the number of times the application has been downloaded through the Play Store and Apple Store has exceeded 70,000, as the application receives very positive responses among users, which increases the workers’ determination to provide more, especially with newer versions. coming from the app.
