Paws Rescue Program

The Paws Rescue Program at Oummal reflects our commitment to animal welfare and the tireless efforts of our dedicated team. Through rescue, rehabilitation, medical care, and community outreach, we strive to create a compassionate society where the rights and well-being of all animals are respected and protected. Our ongoing efforts and future goals aim to enhance the lives of the animals we care for and to promote a culture of humane treatment for all creatures.

This program is a testament to the dedication and compassion of a team of female rescuers who have been tirelessly working for the past 9 years to improve the lives of animals in need. Averaging the rescue of 80 pets annually, the program focuses primarily on dogs, providing them with the essential care and support they require to thrive.

Rescue and Rehabilitation

Each year, our team rescues approximately 80 pets from various distressing situations. The rescued animals are then given the necessary medical care, nutritious food, and safe shelter. Our approach includes finding foster homes for some pets, referring others to specialized organizations, and housing many in our dedicated DogVille land. At DogVille, we provide comprehensive care, including spaying, food, medication, playtime, and training.

Spaying and Release Program

For almost 50% of the dogs we rescue, if we find that they are living in a suitable environment, we perform spaying and release them back. We ensure continuous follow-up to monitor their condition and provide food and medication if needed. This practice helps control the stray dog population while ensuring that the animals remain healthy and safe.

Medical Care

Around 35% of the dogs we rescue suffer from various medical conditions. Our team treats these animals at DogVille if the conditions are manageable within our expertise. For more complex issues, we partner with specialized clinics and hospitals. Common medical issues we handle range from ticks, mange, and skin inflammations to more severe diseases such as Leishmania, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. We also manage cases that require emergency setups and surgical operations, including bone surgeries and amputations, followed by necessary rehabilitation.

Shelter and Care

The remaining 15% of the dogs we rescue are often malnourished, mistreated by the community, or suffering from traumas. Our DogVille land is designed to provide a safe haven for these animals. The facility is divided into three sections to separate the dogs based on their temperament and behavior, ensuring a harmonious and stress-free environment. Currently, DogVille can accommodate up to 40 dogs, but we aim to expand our capacity, renovate the boarding facilities, establish an emergency center, make improvements to the playground area and further develop our awareness programs with the Ministry of Public Health.

Our Vision

Our vision for the future includes increasing our capacity to house more dogs, enhancing our boarding facilities, and including an emergency center within DogVille. We also plan to make adjustments to the playground to provide a better environment for the dogs to play and rehabilitate. With these improvements, we hope to offer even more comprehensive care and support to the animals we rescue
